Welcome

We Are . . .
A mixture of ages, occupations, and points of view; long-time Brenhamites and more recent arrivals, life-long Presbyterians and people from other faith backgrounds. We all  need Christ's grace and we try to live by it. There is a place for you here, so please join us!

We Believe . . .
Jesus Christ is our Savior. Our church is the body of Christ, a community of forgiven sinners, saved by God’s grace, reformed and always reforming. We act on Christ’s command to love others as he has loved us and to answer the call of the Holy Spirit by saying, “Here I am, Lord, send me.”

Announcements

  • Suspension until April 30, 2020

    Dear Church Family, 3/25/20

In the stated meeting of your Session of Elders this week, after much prayer, discussion and consideration, we have decided that it is in everyone’s best interest to extend our suspension of physical gatherings at Brenham Presbyterian Church until April 30, 2020. This decision was made given the increased patterns of spread of COVID-19 and the danger it represents to all of our congregation. Caution is the order of the day, and protecting the health and well-being of our church family is of paramount importance in this difficult decision.

I want to emphasize that the church is not “shutting down” or “being closed”. We will continue to hold worship, deliver pastoral care to the best of our ability, and continue the mission of the church. The church office has been relocated physically to Karla’s home and the office phone is forwarded there. She can be reached during normal church hours, and is also accessible by email. My office has relocated to my home and I am always available via my cell phone, text, and email when needed. Shepherds—including myself—will be checking in with the membership via phone. The prayer chain continues to operate via the internet and phone. Members who wish to work individually in the Galilee Garden should call Phoebe Lake.

    1. and finance are still up and running, as our hard-working committee will ensure that offerings are deposits and the bills of the church paid. We would ask that during this time of trial, that if you normally support your church through plate offerings, to either mail a check to the physical office for pick up at: 1005 Green St. Brenham, Texas 77833

Or if you prefer you may donate on-line https://www.brenhampresbyterian.org/give

Links to periodic Meditations posted on our website will also continue to be sent via email to the congregation. Worship services will continue to be posted to the church website at https://www.brenhampresbyterian.org/ and links sent to everyone in the congregation. This will include Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and all Easter Sunday services.

It has been suggested that we hold the Easter Sunrise service, as it is an outdoor service. The Session considered this carefully. However, given the high attendance of that service in the past years, and the necessity of still maintaining a safe distancing of at least 6 feet, the sitting arrangements alone would be impractical. Additionally, the close parking, tight ingress and egress, and other issues would make safe social distancing problematic, at best.

I know that many will be disappointed at this. I certainly am. In my 21 years of ministry plus all of my years of attending church, I cannot recall a time when Easter services have had to be moved physically to on-line in order to keep folks safe from a pandemic. But we are all called to rise to the challenges of the times we face.

The Session will, of course, re-evaluate should conditions materially change. In the meantime, let us stay united in our prayers and steadfast faith, and spiritually connected.

    Peace in Christ,

    Rev. Dr. W. Brent Hampton
